Trond Hodne

Mr. Trond Hodne, DNV GL, Maritime Business Director

Trond Hodne was born on 31 July 1966. His career in Det Norske Veritas started in 1991 as engineer working on offshore projects for the North Sea. During the period 1994–1997 Trond Hodne was heading a Section for Hydrodynamics and for the next two years (1997-1999) he was senior Hull Approval Engineer at DNV in Korea. From 1999–2002 Trond Hodne was the Head of Section for Structures and Hydrodynamics, R&D responsible for technical program in DNV Maritime and Chairman of IACS Wave Data and Sea Loads group.

From 2002–2005 he was heading the Approval Centre in Japan and in the period 2005-2008 Trond Hodne was the managing director for the DNV’s operations in Japan as well as the Honorary Norwegian Consul – Kobe/Osaka in the same period.

In 2009 he took the position as Head of Business Development and with the responsibility for marketing and sales within DNV Maritime globally. Since the merger between DNV and GL he has the position as Business director Maritime with the same responsibilities.

Trond Hodne graduated from the Faculty of Naval Architecture at Høgskolen i Bergen as an engineer in 1989 and received a master’s degree (MSc) in Ocean Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1991. Since then he has participated in several senior management development programs at IMD in Switzerland, CAP Gemini in France and in 2012 a dedicated maritime leadership program together with 25 top Maritime executives at Duke University in the US.
