John Barnwell

Leadership and Innovation in Commercial Insurance

John Barnwell joined AIG in 2020 as the Ocean Cargo Underwriting Lead for North America.

Prior to joining AIG, he worked for Vindati, an Insurtech M.G.A. funded by WTW and focused on application programing interface (API) technology for Specialty Insurance.

Prior to Vindati, he spent 25 years in various roles (domestic and global) with Allianz. His last role was Senior Vice President, responsible for the North American Specialty lines of business at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty.

John is a member of the AIMU Cargo Committee and the IUMI Cargo Committee.

He is a graduate of St. John’s University with Bachelor of Science and M.B.A. degrees in Management.
